How does PDF compression actually reduce file size?

Compression works by re-encoding the JPEG images embedded in your PDF at a lower quality setting. Text, vector graphics, and page layout are untouched — only embedded photos and scanned-image pages get smaller.

Will compressing lower the visible quality of my PDF?

At the default setting, the difference is usually hard to notice on screen or in print. Push the quality slider lower for a smaller file at the cost of more visible compression artifacts in photos.

Why didn't my file get much smaller?

If your PDF is mostly text (like a Word export or an invoice), there isn't much to compress — text and vector content is already compact. Compression makes the biggest difference on scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs.

Can I compress more than one PDF at once?

Yes — upload up to 10 files (free plan) and each is compressed independently. One file returns a PDF directly; multiple files come back as a ZIP.
